Platform Plank 4 – Welfare Reform

Take Back The Republican Party is in direct opposition to President Obama and vehemently opposes the President’s recent reversal of welfare reform measures passed by the Clinton Administration in the 1990’s.

America is a country founded and built on the principles of self-reliance and personal responsibility. And, while welfare and entitlement programs were created with good intentions, the intended results vary vastly from the actual results of these programs.

To be clear, Take Back The Republican Party believes in compassion and that there are times when an individual or family is faced with unforeseen events that cause hardship. In these cases, we absolutely support temporary assistance to individuals and families while they get back on their feet. The key being, temporary assistance.

In America over the last 50 or so years, these well intentioned assistance programs have created a crisis in which generation after generation of Americans have become dependent on government welfare. This is in direct opposition to the guiding American principles of personal responsibility and self-reliance. There are people in America today that have never worked a day in their lives, yet have their food, shelter, clothing, transportation, heat, electricity and education paid for by the tax payers, and yet these people do nothing to contribute to the greater good of our country.

The growth of the welfare rolls in America is forcing us down a road upon which we are going to have to make a serious decision. Down one fork in the road, we will be able to choose to continue to fund welfare and pay for the lives of able bodied people who have been so oppressed by our government that they now believe taxpayers OWE them even more than what they are currently GIVEN. Taking this path will result in America having to turn its back on the retirees and Baby Boomers that built America’s greatness. We should not have to reduce benefits to Americans in retirement who paid their dues and paid into the system in order to pay for able bodied people who choose not to improve themselves and their lives.

Take Back The Republican Party opposes this path. Scarily, this is a path we are destined to take if we don’t make sweeping and dramatic changes now, before it is too late.

Take Back The Republican Party favors dramatic and sweeping welfare reform. We believe that government assistance programs are not something any American is entitled to, but rather these need to be benefit programs available only to those Americans who pay taxes and work full time. Our compassionate soul tells us that giving a boost to people working hard to better their lives is a core American foundational belief. TBTRP favors this approach. Anyone working full time, paying taxes and contributing to the betterment of our country, but who needs temporary assistance while improving their skills so they may get a new and better job should be helped. Temporary assistance like that makes sense for America. Temporary assistance that helps people who are being responsible and that encourages and fosters a drive toward self-reliance needs to be our strict focus as it relates to welfare reform.

Further, Take Back The Republican Party supports strict lifetime limits on the amount of time and the amount of assistance received by an individual. TBTRP favors a 3 year lifetime cap on ALL public assistance, except unemployment compensation. In the course of one’s life, there may be multiple times when unforeseen unemployment adversely affects a person and his/her family.

We are at a crossroads in America. Down the path we are being led by President Obama, the Democrat Party, the Liberals and Socialists in Congress, and those who are RINO’s (Republicans In Name Only). It is time for the next American Revolution. It starts now, and Take Back The Republican Party is leading the way!
