Take Back The Republican Party is a grass roots organization dedicated to returning the Republican Party to the ideals and fundamental values upon which it was founded.

Founded in 1854 by anti-slavery expansion activists and modernizers, the Republican Party quickly became the party of Lincoln and since his election in 1860, the Republican Party has been dedicated to improving the lives of Americans and driving the growth of Capitalism in America and around the world.  The Republican Party was named in homage to Thomas Jefferson, and since its inception has held to the ideals of limited government, individual freedom, personal responsibility and capitalism.

However, over the past 20 years, the Republican Party, led by the Republican National Committee and those elected to public office, has lost its way.  Instead of reducing the size of the federal government and transferring power for governing to the States, Republicans have been responsible for dramatic increases in federal spending and in increase in the power and scope of the federal government.  Additionally, Republicans have done little to improve the economic climate for individuals and businesses in America.

Republicans have also strayed from the history of the party in allowing the perception to be portrayed that Republicans don’t care about the average citizen. Further, the Republican Party has allowed the media to portray it as being the party against the poor and only for the rich.

So, during the election season of 2008, an idea was born to create a grass roots organization dedicated to restoring the Republican Party to its true and historical roots.  Take Back The Republican Party is focused on:

1. Dramatically reducing taxes on ALL Americans, from the average family to small business to large corporations.  When families are allowed to keep more of the money they earn they pay their bills on time, save more for retirement and spend more today.  When businesses are allowed to keep more of the money they earn, they invest those profits in new technologies and they hire more workers which allow them to be more competitive in the future and help improve the quality of life of the people that work for them.  Lower taxes are good for every person that works and for every company.
2. Dramatically reducing the size and scope of the federal government.  Dramatic federal income tax cuts will also result in dramatic spending cuts by the federal government.  Ask yourself, if the federal government shut down tomorrow, would you even notice?   At Take Back The Republican Party, we believe that governing decisions and taxing policies should be done at the state and local levels, where citizens have more direct access to their elected officials.
3. A return to the key American concepts and practices of personal responsibility and self-reliance.  Over the past 70 years in America, it has become more and more acceptable to give up faith in oneself and look to government to provide for and take care of people.  This is as anti-American as desecrating the American Flag, yet more and more Americans are being convinced that the distant, out of touch, federal government is the only one that can take care of people.  This is NOT the American way.  The American way, and the Republican way is based on self-reliance.  We don’t look to government to provide for us.  We work hard and provide for ourselves.  We don’t place blame on others or look for others to take responsibility for our actions or lack of action.  We take personal responsibility for our lives.  And there is no greater sense of Americanism than the achievement of the American Dream that was accomplished through hard work, determination and perseverance.

Mortgaging the financial security of our future generations by irresponsibly increasing government spending is not acceptable to the American people.  Over 75% of Americans want lower taxes, yet our government does the opposite.  Over 75% of Americans believe government is too big, yet government keeps growing and growing.  It is time to put an end to government that does not carry out the wishes of the people.  In the 1770’s, this type of taxation without representation led to the American Revolution.  Today, Take Back The Republican Party asks you to join in with your fellow Americans as we again fight for what we believe.
